Buzzing Frank is in seventh heaven

- By GEOFF KNOX

THOMAS FRANK said his rampant Brentford side are trying to give their iconic ground a decent send-off before next season’s move to a new stadium.

And boy did they go to town on hapless Luton. Josh Dasilva netted his first hat-trick as the hosts went goal crazy.

The punch-drunk visitors had already thrown the towel in long before half-time, with brilliant Brentford five goals up.

Frank said: “We’ve all been working hard to create magical moments at Griffin Park because this is our last season here. I’m very pleased to be part of it.

“The first half was one of the best at Griffin Park for many, many years, not just because of the 5-0 score but because of the way we created chances and scored.”

Bryan Mbeumo punished a shocking mix-up between Dan Potts and Hatters keeper James Shea to poke home the sixth-minute opener.

Ollie Watkins slotted in the hosts’ second after 29 minutes before

Mathias Jensen picked his spot from 10 yards out four minutes later.

And former Arsenal academy product Dasilva bagged a double before the break. At least Bolton Wanderers had the courtesy to inform Brentford that they weren’t turning up to play them last April.

Said Benrahma rolled in a 71st-minute penalty and Dasilva completed his treble from another spot-kick.

Hatters chief Graeme Jones said: “I was embarrassed by that performance.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. We were defensively fragile. We must make sure this is never repeated.”
