Quatro mansion haunted by ghost called Richard
ROCKER Suzi Quatro reckons her mansion is haunted.
The US singer says her 500-year-old manor house, where she has lived since 1980, is awash with “energies”.
And one, who she has named Richard, is a friendly ghost with whom she has regular chats.
Suzi, 69, who has just completed a sell-out tour of Australia, said: “From day one I knew this place was for me. The house found me.
“When I saw the house on the cover of Country Life, I said, ‘That’s our house, oh my God, that’s it.’ I knew it, I felt it one zillion per cent.
“I knew the place had energies as my own antenna is extremely strong, having been able to pick up on energies from a very early age.
“I think because I’m an artist, my channels are open all the time. I am very sensitive to feelings and always have been.
“There’s one energy in the house that I kind of jokingly nicknamed Richard. I’d say, ‘Oh, that’s Richard’ whenever there was a noise.”
The ghoul even pops up to spook visitors to Suzi’s Essex home, which has its own moat. She added: “When a friend stayed over in one of the bedrooms and saw Richard, the next day I told Richard I didn’t like it.
“I said, ‘Enough is enough. Don’t go appearing to people, that’s not nice.’”
Suzi said she visited a priest to talk to him about her heavenly house guest. And he confirmed a man called Richard had once lived there.
She said: “I explained that I could feel this person around and they had a right to be there and whoever Richard is, he wants to be remembered.
“The priest said, ‘Oh my God, come with me.’ Down the centre aisle, there were the gravestones of important people in the community. The last one before the altar read: ‘Here lies Richard Sorrell the last in his line.’
“It also stated the name of the house on the plaque. He actually existed, and I had the feeling that he wanted to be remembered.”
Suzi says Richard’s relatives have been in touch. She added: “They’d moved to Virginia and were doing research on the house. Now I’m in contact with them. It’s crazy.”
“Whenever I talk about it, the hairs on my neck stand up, it happens to me every single time.”
