Road rage for Rams as Adam settles it

- By LINDSAY SUTTON

dangerous time to play against them. They got an extra bounce and they have some very good players.”

Chelsea grabbed a goal back through a long-range striker from Mateo Kovacic as Everton keeper Jordan Pickford appeared distracted by Tammy Abraham’s presence in his eyeline.

But it was an afternoon when Ferguson and his charges weren’t to be denied.

And Calvert-Lewin ultimately took advantage of an error from Kepa – whose shocking clearance was pounced on by Walcott – to fire his second goal through the Chelsea keeper’s legs.

This time another Goodison ball boy rushed up to the celebrating Ferguson, hoping it was his turn to go on the one man Waltzer.

And Everton’s interim boss didn’t disappoint.

It was, after all, Big Dunc’s big day.

ADAM ARMSTRONG’S strike gave born-again Blackburn their fourth win on the trot – to inflict more away-day blues on sorry Derby.

The Rams have not won away in the league since their opening-day victory at Huddersfield, taking only three points out of 27 away from Pride Park after that.

Given they were knocking on the door of promotion for three seasons it’s little wonder fans can’t wait for an urgent cash investment.

Rams boss Phillip Cocu said: “We need to get that away goal and then our confidence will rise.

“We stayed in the game a long time and Blackburn didn’t create that many chances.

“But we were too sloppy and made some bad decisions.

“Ben Hamer made a very good save from Armstrong but could do nothing when he scored. You need a bit of luck in football and it didn’t happen.”

As for Rovers, they have pulled themselves back up the league with a surge in form.

Armstrong’s fierce drive in the 57th minute was enough to see them chalk up their fifth win in six outings.

Manager Tony Mowbray said: “We should have made it more comfortable.

“We controlled vast swathes of the game and should have made that count. It was important for us to win and keep things moving after winning our last three.

“We have to keep up that intensity.”
