1 SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS:

This nutty 1964 US movie sees Martians kidnap Father Christmas from Earth along with two children, so that their kids can have presents too.

2 SANTA WITH MUSCLES:

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan stars as an evil millionaire who falls down a rubbish chute and wakes up thinking he really is Santa. Once voted the worst festive film of all time, the 1996 effort sees Hogan’s character trying to stop a scientist destroying an orphanage.

3 SANTA’S SLAY:

This bizarre spoof slasher flick, left, from 2005 stars another wrestler, Bill Goldberg, as an evil Santa who goes on a murder spree, killing one victim by drowning her in eggnog.

4 BLACK CHRISTMAS:

Inspired by a series of real-life murders around Quebec this cult Canadian 1974 slasher movie features the story of a group of female students stalked and murdered by a serial killer around the festive season. It has been remade twice!

5 ELVES:

This daft horror story from 1989 sees a woman realise she is the focus of a demonic elf who is planning to fulfil Hitler’s secret plan to create a halfhuman and half-elf super-race.

6 JINGLE ALL THE WAY:

With a dire 16% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this festive 1996 romp stars Terminator’s Arnold Schwarzenegger as a workaholic dad battling to find his son a must-have Turbo Man toy on Christmas Eve.

7 JACK FROST:

In a weird genetic mutation, a serial killer escapes execution to become a psycho snowman in this 1997 American horror film. He takes revenge on the cop who caught him. It even spawned a sequel.

8 SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT:

Aiming to cash in on the success of John Carpenter’s Halloween, this 1984 film sees a traumatised Billy grow up to be a spree killer after witnessing his parents murdered on Christmas Eve.
