MOVE OVER MRS HINCH!

Meet the men cleaning up on the web... just by cleaning up

- By CHARLES WADE-PALMER

THESE chaps are cleaning up as unlikely YouTube stars.

Car Cleaning Guru Joe and Trad-Man window cleaner Peter McKay have built huge followings online by filming their daily graft.

It follows the rise of cleaning queen Mrs Hinch, who is now a celebrity on the back of her springclean Instagram posts.

But it’s not just Mrs H making a mint from soap and water.

It’s estimated Joe pockets £8,000 a month through YouTube and Peter £1,000 a month.

Window cleaner Peter, 29, said: “It kind of just started off as a hobby, but I’ve been to Amsterdam with it for one of the world’s biggest cleaning shows.

“I get messages from people in Australia, America, Europe.”

Making extra money is just a bonus for Peter, who began his channel to share his top tips.

He said: “It’s a fun hobby which has perks, obviously the biggest perk is being able to help people out.”

Full-time car cleaner Joe, 36, told us he used to struggle to find work. Now, owners queue up for his services. He said: “It used to be the Yellow Pages and things like that.

“Now I get offers of work from here, there and everywhere thanks to my videos.” The two men upload weekly videos, demonstrating new techniques, offering tips and trying the latest products.

When Peter, from Aberdeen, wore a kilt for a month for charity, his female fanbase spiked.

He said: “I’ve had a few offers to hold my ladder when I’m in a kilt.

“But I do get quite a lot of views when I’ve got the kids running around, having a laugh, too.”

For Joe, from Wirral, Merseyside, there is no one formula for success. He said: “People say my voice sends them to sleep. I think they find it therapeutic.

“I think the reason it’s done so well is because people are nosey; when it’s got ‘neighbour’ in the title and you can see a very messy car, everyone relates to that.”
