Top of flops says dad NO.1 CRITIC SLAMS EASY LIFE

-

HOT new funksters may be smashing into the chart – but singer can’t get his dad to take the band seriously.

The group’s new mixtape Junk Food cracked the Top 10 this week.

But despite riding high in multiple tip lists for 2020, Murray’s father wishes his son’s songs were more serious.

He told me: “I sometimes play Dad my music, but it’s not his vibe.

“Every single time, Dad says, ‘Why don’t you do something useful?’” Murray’s parents run an organic farm in Leicester and he wrote Easy Life’s single Earth about ecology.

He explained: “Mum and Dad have been farming organically for over 30 years, long before it was cool. They smash it with the environment.

“When I played Earth to my dad, I said, ‘Dad, I’ve written a song about the environment.’

“But he just said, ‘That’s not properly about the environment.’

“I told him, ‘Dad, come on, how am I ever going to win with you?’”

Despite his father’s disapproval, Murray loved growing up on a farm and reckons it’s influenced his band’s music.

He added: “It’s every child’s best day out going to the zoo or safari park, and the farm was like that every day.

“I was massively lucky having such a wholesome start to life – I even had pet sheep.

“On the farm, there was always something to be getting on with, and that mindset has helped in music.

“There’s always songs to be written, so I’m always in the studio doing something.”

You can catch Easy Life on tour in March.
