DANNY RICHARDSON is being backed to have a stormer against former club St Helens today.

Castleford’s scrumhalf was one of the stars of the 2018 Saints team but he fell out of favour in their title-winning campaign last year and jumped at the chance to join Tigers.

Cas boss Daryl Powell insists Richardson will be one of the stand-out performers today – but that’s only because he’s already in red-hot form, rather than gunning for revenge.

Powell said: “He’s always got a spring in his step. Obviously it will be an important game for him and he’ll want to play well, not to prove a point, just to do well for us.”

Saints have failed to win successive games under new boss Kristian Woolf but have danger man Lachlan Coote back from injury at full-back.

Powell added: “He’s a very smart player. They’re physical everywhere.

“James Roby is one of the best players that’s ever played the game so we need to be switched on all across the board.”

Castleford are boosted by the return of prop Liam Watts following a finger injury but Oliver Holmes will miss out.

Saints are only missing Mark Percival and James Bentley, meaning Woolf is confident Saints will start to click again.

He said: “It’s the healthiest we’ve been this season which is positive because it means there’s competition for places and also that players can play in their right positions.”

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports after coronavirus fears wiped out other live action.

RUGBY LEAGUE bosses have abandoned plans to host Challenge the Coral draw Cup sixth round in New York. now be The draw will staged at MediaCity Salford at 6pm in tomorrow, with ties scheduled for the weekend of April 4-5. Super League games are also expected to be postponed from tomorrow.
