MANCHESTER UNITED’s medical team are monitoring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stars for coronavirus symptoms a day at training.

Club doctors are taking no risks – and players are subjected to tests when they arrive and leave.

United have no plans to close Carrington yet – although Arsenal and Everton’s training gounds are already in lockdown.

But only essential first-team staff are allowed to mingle with players at the training HQ.

A United spokesman said: “Before the suspension of the Premier League we had taken the precaution of restricting access to the first-team area at the training ground.

“That was to protect players and staff with restrictions on who can go into the first-team dressing room, fitness areas and players dining room. Only essential staff are allowed in those areas.

“For now, we plan to carry on as normal until the situation changes.”

It has also emerged United’s players were monitored for the virus throughout their Europa League game against LASK in Austria.

The players’ temperatures were taken at half-time to make certain no-one was at risk.

And medical staff took further readings on the flight home with United on high alert to the dangers of the Covid-19 virus.

Solskjaer said: “Our medical staff are watching this minute-to-minute.

“Even at half-time in Austria the doctor was checking the players.”

But Solskjaer refused to say if he would have allowed his family to watch United’s game at Tottenham today if it had gone ahead.

He said: “That is not for me to answer but we listen to the authorities and the bodies that do decide. We just have to go with the decisions that are made.”
