Miles the best YOU CAN’T BUY A BETTER SPORTS CAR FACTFILE AT THIS PRICE THAN THE PORSCHE GTS

-

comes with six-speed manual ’box. Well, almost the same as it has a slightly longer gearlever movement.

It’s a lovely gearbox to use and has an auto-blip function that gives you a few more engine revs as you change down a gear.

Unless you really need the two small rear seats there’s no reason to buy a 911 over this car.

The Cayman GTS is lighter, slimmer and more fun to drive by some margin. I like the 911 a lot, but this is where my money would go. The engine is fantastic. It doesn’t have a huge amount of power below 3,000rpm so you’re encouraged to rev it – and with the exhaust set to sporty that sounds wonderful.

The GT4 comes standard with carbon-ceramic brakes but they’re a five grand option on this car. If you were going to use your car on a circuit on a regular basis they’d be worth it.

For road use, you won’t have much trouble with the standard steel brakes.

The GTS has less sticky and slightly narrower tyres than the GT4, which you can just about notice if you push it

FERRARI is hoping to restart production at its factory in Maranello, Italy, on April 14.

That seems very optimistic given that country is still in the throes of Covid-19.

Also, I’d be surprised if they could get supplies of all the hard through a corner. But it handles so well that it’s immaterial.

On the simple steering wheel you’ll find a knob that, when twisted, selects between Normal, Sport and Sport Plus in the Porsche Active Suspension Management system – PASM for short.

Normal gives sharp handling with a comfortable ride; the others offer more of the former with less of the latter.

My favourite sports car right now is still the Alpine A110, although only in its cheapest and simplest form.

The argument for buying the more powerful A110S – which was launched last year and which costs £56,810 – over this new Porsche is

rather hard to make. various components required, including raw materials such as aluminium.

But if there’s one brand that is strong enough to weather the financial storm that’s going to hit the entire motor industry, it’s got to be Ferrari.

CLEVER Isuzu... The pick-up specialists have come up with a good idea to keep kids entertained while we’re banged up at home. They’ve produced a range of colouring sheets that show their D-Max pick-up in action. The current ones feature it on farms and construction sites. More will be released over the next few weeks. There are join-the-dot drawings for younger children and you can find everything at isuzu.co.uk/kids. Happy colouring!
