GUARDS DELIVER KILLERS’ SWEETS TO CELLS

-

LIFE is sweet for Britain’s most notorious killers – as they tuck in to goodie bags full of chocolate bars delivered to their cells. Soham murderer Ian Huntley, 46, Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe and Milly Dowler killer Levi Bellfield, 52, are among those getting daily treats. Prisoners are receiving the deliveries, which also include biscuits, wafers and sparkling water, to keep them “happy” in lockdown. Bosses at Frankland Prison, in Co Durham, have advised older cons including Sutcliffe, 73, to avoid the infection by not exercising outside in the yard. Inmates at the Category A jail are only being allowed out of their cells for five-minute phone calls and 12 at a time to exercise. A source said: “Guards have to look after the prisoners, but it does stick in the craw to see people like Huntley and Sutcliffe being given goodie bags.

“They have different chocolate bars like Mars Bars and Twix given to them, along with biscuits and wafers and fizzy water.

“They are delivered to their cells by officers who keep their distance to avoid any possible infection.

“The officers are desperate to keep them happy as they are spending so much time locked up.

“Most of the inmates, like Sutcliffe, wolf all the offerings down. But others, like Bellfield – who is a fitness freak at the moment – don’t want treats as they prefer healthy stuff.

“Bellfield goes out on the yard and exercises every day with younger lads.

“But Sutcliffe has been told that he is ‘vulnerable’ to coronavirus and is self-isolating.

“He has a few underlying conditions, including heart problems.

“The problem is a lot of the prisoners are ignoring the ‘don’t mix’ message and mingling around in threes and fours when they go out for exercise.”

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said food parcels have been provided in all prisons in the country.
