NOLANS SAILING ON WAVES OF EMOTION Bernie’s spirit is with us, say singing sisters

THE Nolans felt the spirit of their late sister Bernie while making their reality show.

Maureen, Coleen, Anne and Linda toured around the Mediterranean on a cruise ship for the new series.

And while on board they performed as a group for the first time since losing Bernie, inset, in 2013.

Maureen said: “We were thinking of her and we felt like she was there with us.

“I’m sure she was somewhere, cheering us on. And if she was up there seeing us, she would be so jealous… she’d want to get down and be part of it.”

Fans will see the sisters open their hearts about losing Bernie. Maureen added: “It made us sad now and again. We’d be thinking, ‘Oh she would have loved this.’

“And then that makes you sad. But then we’d think of a funny memory.

“We missed her so much on the cruise. Bernie is in our thoughts every single day.”

The eight-part series follows The Nolans as they prepare to perform their smash I’m In The Mood For Dancing. Loose Women star Coleen steps up to take over from Bernie as the lead vocalist.

Maureen said: “It was hysterical how nervous we were. Because we’re professional singers, we couldn’t just wing it.

“It had to be right. The harmonies had to be right. It requires a big vocal range. It was a challenge for Coleen.

“She doesn’t do that much singing nowadays, so she was very nervous.

“And Bernie is a hard act to follow, so there was pressure on Coleen. But thankfully it was fantastic.”

The Nolans Go Cruising starts on Tuesday at 10pm on Quest Red.
