DIANA’S GHOST

Spooky woman in white guards ‘new burial plot’

- EXCLUSIVE by AARON TINNEY

A WOMAN’S ghost haunts the place where Princess Diana’s body is rumoured to be secretly buried.

Fans believe she was moved to the family crypt in a church near Althorp.

They claim sightings of a praying figure at the spot add weight to the mystery.

THIS mysterious kneeling figure is believed to be the “praying ghost” said to haunt the church where Princess Diana is rumoured to be secretly buried.

For years, fans have been told her final resting place is an island on a lake at her ancestral Althorp home.

But many now believe she was secretly moved by her family to avoid grave robbers targeting her memorial.

And they think the appearance of the spirit at St Mary the Virgin church in nearby Great Brington, Northants, is confirmation she was reburied there.

The church houses the Spencer family vault and 19 generations rest there, including Di’s father.

One ghost hunter claimed: “This spectre has been seen travelling between churches, and there have been sightings at the ‘secret Diana crypt.’ It is highly likely it is watching over the remains of Great Brington’s most famous body.”

The praying ghost has only been captured on film once – in this snap by photographers Gordon Carroll and David Hadsell.

It was kneeling before an altar and bowing its head at a church in Kempsing, Kent. But locals who live near Diana’s church say they have spotted an identical ghost.

One said: “It’s spooky, it’s the same pose, same outfit, everything.” Another added: “The praying ghost was huge news when the photograph came out.

“I hear it’s been seen kneeling directly above the spot where Diana is thought to have been buried. Who knows what it wants? It seems harmless enough.

“And maybe it’s praying for Diana herself, as a lot of people round here now think her body is in the Great Brington church – you just have to look at the visitors’ book to see that.”

Royal fans from across the world have flocked to the church since rumours emerged that Di is buried there. One, from Australia, wrote: “Beautiful resting place. RIP Diana, with your family.” Another said: “Hoping that you can find peace here.”

Diana’s brother Earl Spencer initially planned to bury her at the church and workers even dug a hole inside the crypt for her coffin. But the night before her state funeral on September 6, 1997, he changed his mind.

The Church of England and Kensington Palace declined to comment on the burial claims.
