A £12,000 hair-raiser for Nicky
CELEBRITY snipper Nicky Clarke has revealed how he was once paid £12,000 for just three blow-dries.
The hairdresser, 62, was asked to work on a L’Oréal advert starring Hollywood actress Isabella Rossellini and was told money was no object.
The hairdresser to the stars – who counts Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and David Walliams among his famous clients – said he ended up charging £4,000 per blow dry.
Asked what his most lucrative work had been, he said: “When I worked with Isabella Rossellini I had a three-day shoot booked by L’Oréal from
7am to 10pm.
“I warned them it would be an expensive bill staying all day.
“They said, ‘Just send us the bill.’.. I did three blowdries for £12,000.”
He also admitted it was “tricky” justifying charging
£650 for a haircut, “but I don’t have to convince anyone else other than the person sitting there”.
Nicky added that after the first cut, the price for subsequent trims drops “to a bargain-basement £350”.
