Aguero could stay on

-

once again sidelined after a knee operation two weeks ago, he remains City’s master marksman.

Pep Guardiola (below) is likely to be in the market for a new striker next month but there is a possibility that Aguero will be handed a one-year extension if he continues to score goals next season.

Gabriel Jesus, 23, is currently leading the attack but is still to convince Guardiola that he can replace Aguero in the long term.

The Argentine has hit 254 goals in 370 games for the Blues since 2011 but his time at The Etihad has also been plagued by regular injury absences.

Aguero has stated his intention to finish his career with Buenos Aires giants Independiente.

But if he comes back firing on all cylinders then his stay in Manchester could be extended beyond a decade.
