CRISSY’S ROCKING ON MASTERCHEF Star who lived on Pot Noodles learns to cook

-

CRISSY Rock had never even owned a frying pan when she signed up for Celebrity MasterChef.

The Benidorm star admits she prepared most meals by just boiling a kettle.

She said: “I’m always away from home doing comedy gigs. When you’re on the road a lot, you just grab and go.

“I’m always staying in hotels, so I live on Cup a Soups and Pot Noodles. So when my agent asked me if I wanted to do MasterChef, I said, ‘Are you having a laugh? I can’t cook.’ But I decided to give it a go.”

Despite her lack of experience, Crissy surprised herself with how well she did.

She said: “It was a bit scary. I was going into the unknown, but I shocked myself.

“When you’re not used to cooking and you have people helping you, before you know it you are going with the flow. It was unbelievable. I’m someone who would normally rather open a tin of corned beef than cook. But I was getting a recipe and putting it together.

“What an experience. I’ve now realised that you can cook without using a tin.”

Since filming, Crissy has become a dab hand in the kitchen.

She said: “I’ve bought myself a frying pan for the first time in my life. The fella in the shop near me doesn’t know what to think. I go in there now and ask for things like corn starch. And I’m buying all these herbs I’d never heard of before.

“It’s been brilliant during lockdown. I’ve been preparing meals. I could almost open my own restaurant.

“Actually, it would probably be more of a burger bar.”
