It could be ‘Mayday’ for Blues’ defenders

have been sent off when we lost to West Ham?”

“It should be us complaining about whether we get decisions on the pitch.

“But we let other people talk about that. I don’t want to get too much into it. “I might get into trouble.” United, who reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, also have a route back into the Champions League open to them by winning the Europa League.

Today’s game against Chelsea will be their 56th competitive match of the campaign.

That is in contrast to Klopp’s Liverpool, who were eliminated from Europe and the two domestic cup competitions early as they clinched the club’s first title in 30 years.

Solskjaer said: “It’s that word ‘responsibility.’

“It’s our duty and our responsibility as Manchester United players and staff to go for trophies.

“I have never seen anyone celebrate a trophy like our gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I remember him coming to watch my first game as reserve-team manager in a Lancashire Senior Cup game against Liverpool.

“He was knocking on my door at half-time because we were

1-0 down and he wanted us to win – and we did in the end.

“It’s a big, big thing for our players to get into the habit of winning.

“For any player or team to lift that first trophy is a great experience.”

Luke Shaw looks like he will miss out at Wembley but fellow left-back Brandon Williams

(right) should be fit to face Chelsea.

Both were forced off with injuries against Southampton on Monday and missed the win at Palace three days later.

Shaw suffered a swollen ankle while Williams had a head injury.

Solskjaer said: “I don’t think Luke is going to make it. Brandon will hopefully train today and be available.”

The United boss did not offer Sergio Romero any guarantees that he will retain his place as United’s cup goalkeeper, while Jesse Lingard could also be involved.

“The team is not selected yet – Jesse and Sergio both have a good chance of being involved,” said Solskjaer. “Jesse is a part of the club.

“He has worked really hard and he deserves his chance to come back in.

“We know his qualities. He has different qualities to other players and he knows we value him.”

FRANK LAMPARD will be having sleepless nights working out how to stop Manchester United’s turbo-charged attack in today’s FA Cup semi-final.

And ex-United defender David May reckons no defence would fancy facing Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in such red-hot form.

United’s new Holy Trinity have scored 13 goals between them in the eight games since lockdown – with Bruno Fernandes weighing in with another five.

And 1999 Treble winner May said: “Chelsea will have been working how to stop United’s attack but in the form they are in now I’m not sure that is possible.

“If you were a defender which attack would you rather face today – Chelsea’s or United’s?

“I know if I was still playing it wouldn’t be those three. And then you have the added problem of Fernandes.

“He plays between the lines ahead of midfield but in the hole behind the strikers.

“Playing where he does, if you’re a central defender do you come out and mark him and leave spaces behind you, pass him on, leave him? It’s a nightmare.

“Before lockdown I’d have been worried about facing Chelsea in this game or finishing in the top four.

“I don’t want to tempt fate but now I’m confident because United’s attacking play is so lethal. They look capable of scoring every time they attack.”

May, 50, reckons if United make a couple of signings before the start of next season they can make a stronger title challenge.

“Since he came in, all of Solskjaer’s signings have been good,” he said. “They have all contributed to making United a better team but he needs a couple more to challenge Liverpool and Man City.”
