BRENDAN RODGERS says the new five substitutes rule has handed another advantage to football’s elite. The rules were relaxed temporarily as football restarted after lockdown because of fears about increased injuries and potentially playing in the heat. However, the Premier League is now free to make those changes permanent. But the Foxes boss said: “I don’t see this as the right thing going forward. Having been at so-called bigger clubs, there is an advantage. Let’s go back to three subs.” his rag in the heat of the battle, but according to the Argentina winger, his high foul count is more down to the officials making wrong calls.

Lamela (right) said: “It’s the way sometimes I play football.

“Too many times, it’s not even a foul but they are giving fouls.

“I get angry sometimes.

But I don’t know.

“It’s not something that I’m trying to do – it’s just the way I train

and how I play.” And discussing Mourinho’s call for nasty rather than nice players, the former Roma ace, 28, said: “It’s a difficult question but the manager is the first person who can see everything. “So, if he has something to say, we have to accept it. “This team is full of people who love to train, love to play and love each other on the pitch. “Everyone will try their best for the team.”

HARRY KANE will be keeping a close eye on Tottenham’s failure to spend big on premium quality players as he ponders his future. That is the warning to Spurs fans from former White Hart Lane star Dimitar Berbatov, who had to leave the club himself to satisfy his appetite for trophies. Berbatov, a Betfair ambassador, said: “At Spurs, there is a lack of transfer activity and people may say that there has been a lack of quality brought into the club in recent times.

“That will be in Kane’s mind. “People are talking a lot about this and Kane is probably talking about it to his agent as well.

“If you are a player with big ambitions you always have things like this in your mind.

“If you want to win something and time is flying and not waiting for anyone, you know you have limited opportunities to win something in your career.

“So then it’s down to you to make a decision about what you are going to do about it, if you stay or if you go.

“Trust me, that’s a tough decision and I’m sure that in the case of Harry, who has come through the academy, it will be an even tougher decision.” Mourinho’s style of play has also been heavily criticised by some fans and plenty fear he won’t play to Kane’s strengths.

But Berbatov said: “I see some people saying Kane won’t score as many goals playing under Mourinho, and that isn’t good for Jose. “Overall, though, I don’t think we should be worried yet.”

Spurs, who face Leicester today, didn’t sign a single player ahead of or during the 2018-19 season and only January recruit Steven Bergwijn, of the three who have come in since last summer, has hit the ground running.

Club-record buy Tanguy Ndombele has had a miserable year and loan signing Gedson Fernandes has found opportunities limited.

Berbatov added: “Daniel Levy is a great businessman and knows how to get the best out of the market but there comes a time when you need to spend a bit more.

“They need to be more precise and when they spend, they need to spend it on players that deserve it.

BRIGHTON boss Graham Potter has told Leeds to forget signing Ben White on a permanent deal.

The on-loan Seagulls defender, 22, has been an ever present this season for the Yorkshire club, whose promotion to the elite was confirmed on Friday night.

But White, yet to make a senior appearance for Albion, will not be playing any part in Leeds’ first top-flight campaign in 17 years.

Asked where the player’s future lies next season, Potter insisted he would be back on the South Coast.

The Albion chief, whose side are all but safe from the drop ahead of the visit of Newcastle tomorrow night, said: “Ben’s contracted with us and on loan at Leeds. I absolutely see him as part of our plans.

“It’s fantastic he’s had this year with Leeds. Ben got some great experience and Leeds achieved their goal of promotion. He’s a really good player – and, thankfully, our player.”
