Moyes will be taking care of business

- NICK CALLOW

DAVID MOYES has secured the final say on all West Ham transfers as he targets Europe – after surviving this season’s relegation battle.

Previous Hammers bosses have reportedly not always had the pick of their desired signings.

But Moyes is hoping to continue his second spell in charge of the London club with more authority.

Quizzed on who now has a say on the club’s transfer dealings, the proud Scot said: “I wouldn’t do the job if I didn’t have the final say.

“I’m too experienced. We lose our jobs by our decisions and I want it to be that way where if I don’t do the job well enough I want it to be because of my decisions, that’s the way I want it.”

The former Everton and Manchester United boss stressed his relationship with owner David Sullivan is one of mutual trust and respect as he aims to approach next season without any relegation fears.

Moyes said: “We’ll work together – of course I always work together with the owners, the relationship is really important.

“My relationship with Bill Kenwright at Everton was incredible.

“It was probably the reason we rebuilt Everton from a team around the bottom of the Premier League to a team every year that was either challenging for the Champions League, qualifying for the Europa League and being around those places every year.

“That takes time, it takes trust from both parties.”

Moyes does not deny the club might have to sell players in order to make forward steps in the current financial climate.

He added: “I think it’s well known that the owners spent a lot of money in the last year or two. I think things are going to be much tighter.

“We need to see how that goes.”
