LOVE Island beauty Shaughna Phillips refuses to let internet trolls wreck her mission to find a man.

Since appearing on the ITV2 show she has become the target of vile abuse.

And the Londoner, 25, is back on the box on the new series of Celebs Go Dating, which puts her in the firing line for even more abuse.

Shaughna said: “After I left Love

Island, I had a week or so where I found myself looking for bad comments online. I don’t know why, but I kept looking for bad stuff and it was upsetting me.

“I saw a message that said, ‘Why can’t you understand that no-one will love you? You’re better off dead’. I thought, ‘That’s just not nice. I don’t need that’.

“People think they know you and are entitled to have an opinion on you… they think if you’re on a reality show then you should just accept the abuse. But that’s not the way it should be. People need to und make mista with. But S o

derstand I’m still human. I’m going to kes and do things people don’t agree I don’t have bad intentions.” Shaughna is determined not to let the online abuse get to her.

The former civil servant added: “When you’re on Love Island you’re in a bubble and completely unaware of what’s happening outside. “But with Celebs Go Dating I am seeing the reaction on social media as it airs. It’s a new experience. “But the great thing is, I’m a lot stronger now.

“I’m more self-assured. These days, post something and then not look onabout an hour to make sure I don’t see d. check the messages from people on ither because I know doing that is hell!” a is hoping to find a man to settle down with on Celebs Go Dating. Thanks to her mentors Paul C Brunson, 45, and Anna Williamson, 39, she is having better luck than on Love Island.

She said: “I’ve started this show with a different mindset and I’m getting more out of it than I did with Love Island. I’m enjoying this show more, too.

“That’s all down to Paul and Anna. I talk to them before and after each date. You get pointers. It’s like getting feedback after a test – you find out where you went wrong and what you need to improve on.

“I wish I had them to help me with every part of my life.”

Because of the coronavirus guidelines, all dates this series are via video link or following social distancing.

Shaughna is meeting lads but staying at least a metre apart at all times – which is a world away from what viewers are used to seeing on Love ove Island.

She said: “When you’re social distancing, it takes a bit of the pressure off.

“Because you have to be apart you don’t have to think about whether or not you should go in for a cuddle or if you should have a kiss on the first date.”
