Eleb...get me a better rear!

- FELICITY CROSS

Britain is on a fitness drive after piling on the pounds during lockdown.

Boris Johnson has launched a raft of measures to help us get trim, including banning fast-food adverts before 9pm.

But many stars are going further than just counting calories. Some follow bizarre while others hit the gym. Soap actress Gemma Atkinson thinks exercise needs to make you feel good and not just make you look great. Launching her new Stronger Level 2 programme, she said: “For me primarily I always think my physical health diets and my mental health are what’s important. Mentally I feel positive. I’m sleeping good and for me that’s why I want to train, because I want to feel my best.”

The mum of one uses bodyweight strength exercises and lifts weights. But even as a fitness icon she is a target for trolls.

The former Strictly star added: “For Hollyoaks turning 25 years old, they’ve been re-running some episodes.

“A guy DM’d me, and he said, ‘Wow, I never realised at the time but you were fat in Hollyoaks, weren’t you?’”

Towie star Billie Faiers says that as well as running round after her two children Nelly, six, and Arthur Shepherd, three, she has a secret tip for keeping a tiny waist.

She said: “I’ve got a hula hoop indoors. I’m really good at hula hooping and it’s great for your waist. I keep it going for a good five minutes. I also run up and down my stairs about 200 times a day for Nelly. I just think I’ve been lucky because I stay really active.”

Jungle queen Jacqueline Jossa, 27, is also looking amazing right now – and she says it’s all down to doing lots of walking.

She added: “I just need to make sure I keep active and it’s so good for the brain.

“I’m a working mum and a size 12. I can’t walk around looking perfect all the time and I’ve accepted that’s completely fine.”

It’s not just the girls looking after their weight. Gary Barlow has lost his “dad bod” thanks to cutting out sugar. Former Towie hunk Mark Wright is such a fitness expert that he’s launched his own app, which includes hiit workouts.

While Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall has completely transformed his body with long, gruelling gym sessions.

But, never fear – Jennifer Lopez, who has one of the most admired bodies in Hollywood, reckons eating a good McDonald’s helps keep her booty pumped.
