KALOOR HAS THE GAS TO FIRE JACOBS’

FIVE-TIME NAPS TABLE CHAMP MOORESTYLE’S BEST BETS…

-

I ALWAYS stand by the theory of giving a horse a second or sometimes third chance but it is last-chance saloon for KALOOR (5.20, nap) when he runs in today’s finale at Sandown Park.

On several occasions, David Menuisier’s charge has flattered to deceive, coming home like a rocket in his races but all to no avail.

That is what happened over the course and distance two outings back when he fired up the famous Esher hill only to beaten three lengths by Mancini.

In a race with enough pace to make this a good test – and with William Buick booked – I am going to give Kaloor one last chance. But if he fails, I shall be filing for a betting divorce.

The feature race at the Surrey track is the Atalanta Stakes which looks a real conundrum but I am prepared to take a chance on LAVENDER’S BLUE (3.05) even though she is not the highest-rated filly or mare in the field.

Last time out at Goodwood, she shaped as if a stiffer test would suit and anything around the 10-1 mark makes her an each-way play here.

There are some ultra-competitive handicaps to get our teeth stuck into, none more so than the mile-and-a-quarter event in which GOOD BIRTHDAY (2.30) looks ready to strike.

Andrew Balding’s charge looked set to have a successful season in the top handicaps after a good debut at Newmarket but hasn’t made his mark in some tough events since.

He may just work better in this much bigger field and he could surprise the likes of Muraad and Victory Chime. At Wolverhampton, I am really keen on old TEEPEE

TIME (1.55) making all the running and holding off the stronger stayers.

He nearly did that last time out before flattening out close to home. Also look at that race’s winner,

HARD

SOLUTION

(2.25), while

PRINCE

LLYR

(5.10) could go well at a really big price in the mileand-ahalf finale on the Tapeta.
