Shock home booze battle for TV Sally

- By DAVID O’DORNAN

CORRIE legend Sally Dynevor has admitted she had to call time on boozy nights during lockdown after opening a bottle of wine “nearly every night”.

The mum of three, who plays Sally Webster on the cobbles, said she and Emmerdale scriptwriter husband Tim found themselves knocking it back at dinner.

She added: “Yes, we had to put an end to that after a while because nearly every night we were like, ‘Oh right, it’s wine time’, and we’d open a bottle.

“You don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen making a meal and then not have a glass of wine with it.”

Sally, 57, said she tried to keep herself busy during the pandemic with food, games and even performing plays for strangers on the phone.

She explained: “I ate a lot of cheese. It seemed to be my go-to food.

“I tried to make bread. I made one loaf and it was rock hard, so I gave up.

“I didn’t learn a language or do anything extraordinary, but I have been reading plays to people who are isolated. Paines Plough theatre company give you a telephone number to ring, then you chat and read a play.

“I rang a minister in Ireland and a lady in London. It made me realise how difficult lockdown was for people on their own.”

Sally added: “At home we played lots of Scrabble, made loads of meals, did lots of walking and online exercise.

“But I’m a people person so I really missed hugging.”

Meanwhile, Sally revealed she is still in the running to appear on the next series of Dancing On Ice.

She added: “I went along to a day’s try-out. Whether now is the right time or not I don’t know.

“I am literally Bambi. I just fell over so many times that day.”
