Room Review Park Royal Hotel, Stretton, Cheshire Location:

-

A SUBSTANTIAL property in the Cheshire countryside outside Warrington, midway between Liverpool and Manchester. The fine city of Chester is just 20 minutes away, too.

It’s close to the motorway network, making it good for connections to all compass points and it’s also a great overnight stop.

Facilities:

This is the full four-star experience, from the friendly welcome at the front desk to your quick and efficient departure.

There’s a nice big pool and a sizable gym. The spa facilities are open again if you fancy a massage or facial.

Book in advance as numbers are restricted by Covid measures. It meant we got lots of room for a pre-dinner dip with our toddler daughters.

The public spaces are handsomely appointed and comfortable. You can eat in the bar or the restaurant, and there’s a terrace if the weather is warm.

Virus-prevention measures were scrupulously observed and the by DENIS MANN

hotel felt very clean and safe.

Bedrooms:

The attention to detail continues in the rooms. We had a luxurious king-size bed, plus low twin beds (for the twins!) and there was still plenty of room. A Juliet balcony was a nice extra. The bathroom had a refreshing shower plus a bath.

Food & Drink:

The Topiary In The Park restaurant was not up to full speed on our visit. There was a limited menu and our bavette steaks (£17) came without the sauce they needed, but the service was great.

No breakfast buffet (Covid again), but you could order what you liked and it was cooked well.

The coffee kept coming, too – no complaints there.
