HIGH FIVE FOR JOLLY HOLLIE
Brilliant Doyle runs amok at Windsor
THE diminutive Hollie Doyle again showed she can punch above her weight by riding a five-timer at Windsor.
Doyle, five foot and weighing in at under 8st, clearly has a knack of making horses run. Indian Creak kicked off t he 899- 1 f i ve- t i mer, followed by Sur Mer, Le Don De Vie, Extra Elusive and Mistress Nellie. “I don’t think I’ve had an afternoon as good as this,” said Doyle, the first female rider in the UK to bag five winners in a day.
“I think I’ve had one or two fourtimers – but it never gets boring, especially with a Group Three and Listed winner, which is great.” After her victory with Extra Elusive in the Winter Hill Stakes, Doyle said: “I just let him get on with it. I love him.” Doyle clearly knows how to get a tune out of Extra Elusive as before she teamed up with him, he had not won in eight outings.
Winning trainer Roger Charlton said: “Hollie is remarkable as he is not an easy horse.
“It was without doubt a great ride and his best performance.
“My only concern was saddling the horse as Hollie must have been carrying over three stone of lead weight!”
Doyle, 23, is enjoying a remarkable year, with a first Royal Ascot winner celebrated with Scarlet Dragon in June.
At Goodwood, Subjectivist heads for next month’s St Leger after winning the March Stakes.
After crossing the winning line, Joe Fanning required a pair of binoculars to spot his rivals who were mere dots on the horizon.
Well-backed Century Dream, sent off the 11-4 favourite, proved too strong for his rivals in the Ladbrokes Celebration Mile.
