Jose wants tougher Spurs
JOSE MOURINHO caused quite a stir when leaked footage from the new All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur documentary saw him ordering his players to be ‘a bunch of c***s’.
But he insists his expletive-laden rant filmed on Amazon’s fly-on-the-wall insight at Spurs was just part of the process required to toughen up the collective mentality of his squad.
The Tottenham boss, 57, said: “To play nice and to use that as a kind of protection for not getting results is not me.
“I also think that, because I have that experience, there are a few qualities without which you just can’t win.
“I always think that the process in a football team starts with the one thing that takes the most time to develop, which is the psychological profile of the group. psychological profile?
“Some players can have it in isolation and some not so much.
“But that collective state of mind is something that takes time.”
Mourinho knows how he came across in that clip and he knows most football fans have already made up their minds about his personality.
But he is comfortable that through the documentary, that airs exclusively on Prime Video tomorrow, everybody will get to see the real Jose Mourinho. He added: “If people only watch the video that was leaked they will think I am a crazy guy. “Now they will see the real Jose. Nothing is fake. Lots of people
Individual will have a perception about me and now they can confirm if the perception is correct.
“If they misjudge me and they analyse me in the different perspective, I really don’t know.
“The only thing that I know is that what they watch is what I am as a football coach in my football day by day.”
Despite the documentary showing how much control Mourinho has over certain aspects at the club, he thinks managers have lost some of their power over the last few years – which makes their job precarious.
Mourinho added: “Managers are not as powerful as they were before.
“In fact, you are fragile. You’re fragile in the eyes of the media. You’re fragile in the eyes of the fans.”
