LAGS are leaving online reviews of British jails, the Daily Star Sunday can reveal.

They have posted dozens of lighthearted and some serious messages on Google after spending time banged up.

One of the prisons which received lots of reviews was HMP Wakefield – the notorious “Monster Mansion”.

The jail holds Robert “Hannibal The Cannibal” Maudsley and Britain’s worst rapist, Reynhard Sinaga.

Will Rayner gave the prison two stars and wrote: “Great location just a short walk from the train station but they don’t let you out, unfortunately.

“Food’s a bit naff too.”

But Benny Mac gave the prison five stars and said: “Brilliant jail... love the guards and love the cons.”

Another top-security category A prison, HMP Full Sutton, near York, also houses some of Britain’s most dangerous cons.

Former inmate Pete Law wrote: “Lifechanging place this, speaking from experience… chapel and staff spot on.”

HMP Birmingham is a category B/C prison for male inmates. It was opened in 1849 8 9 and, a d, according acco d g to a number u be o of

Google reviews, it seems as though some of the prison conditions have not changed much since then.

Official Government reports suggest that rat and cockroach infestations are on the rise.

HMP Doncaster, which is known as “Doncatraz”, is a privately run category B prison, Young Offender Institution and remand centre.

Phil Harrison posted: “Disgusting, terrifying, drug-filled but I wasn’t shanked [stabbed] so credit where credit’s due. Two stars.”

One serving prison officer said: “Some of the reviews are clearly light-hearted but others are pretty accurate.”

Female prisoners have also been joining in. Writing about New Hall Prison, near Wakefield, Natalie Olah posted the following: “Lovely staff always happy to help. Could do with cows’ milk though and not UHT.”

While Lauren Redmond joked: “Can get a little loud at night. Not too bad for a free stay. y Food needs major j improvement.” p
