Room Review Astarte Suites, Santorini, Greece
Location: L
GREECE sailed reasonably smoothly through summer
2 2020 and seven islands avoided being on the U UK’s quarantine list until last month.
It proved to be a perfect time to visit the usually bustling island of Santorini, with the streets left nice and quiet, allowing a blissful sunset wander. Restaurants could be easily booked, too.
This five-star hotel is perched on the
Akrotiri cliffs at the southern side of the island’s famous caldera – offering guests stunning views over the volcano to the whitewashed towns of
Oia and
Fira.
It’s just a
2 20-minute drive from both Santorini’s airport and seaport, and less than 40 minutes from Oia in the north.
Facilities:
You’ll struggle to resist uploading your photos of Astarte Suites to social media.
The hotel is stunning, with the star being an infinity pool which seems to tumble down into the caldera.
The design follows the traditional Greek white and blue with a modern twist. A
FELICITY CROSS
concierge is on hand to help you book any day trips, travel or activities during your stay.
Bedrooms:
For a luxury feel, each of the 15 suites has its own Jacuzzi and a superb sea view. Inside is a comfy king-size bed and five-star touches such as a Nespresso machine and Hermes toiletries. That said, the decor does feel a little dated, at odds with the modern feel around the hotel.
Food & Drink:
Astarte Suites’ Alali restaurant is highly recommended.
Its chefs prepared a generous buffet breakfast, delivered to our balcony.
The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve eaten, while champagne and a fruit platter on arrival was a nice touch.
