Warneing shot after last gasp Angu-ish
PAUL WARNE had mixed emotions after his side conceded at the death for the second time in as many games – a 96th minute Angus MacDonald own goal handing Huddersfield a late point.
The Millers appeared to be heading for their second win of the season only for Pipa’s shot to take a huge deflection off MacDonald.
It followed a draw at Birmingham last weekend when Blues forced an equaliser in added time.
The Millers had gone ahead with their first real effort on goal in the 34th minute – a moment of quality in what had been a scrappy game.
Ben Wiles struck a clean, low shot from distance to the keeper’s right after being fed by Kieran Sadlier.
Warne said: “We were a little like lame ducks for the last 10 minutes.
“Considering Angus was outstanding, for him to score makes it doubly cruel. I’d rather see someone bend one in from 30 yards than us slash a goal in. I did think we had done enough.
“We were only a couple of minutes away but unfortunately that’s four points we’ve dropped in two games and we’d be absolutely smoking it.”
Opposite number Carlos Corberan said: “Pipa’s contribution was very important for the goal.
“I like it when I see the team has enough patience to keep going to the last moment.
“We scored the goal with a little bit of luck but it was very clear that we deserved that today.”
