Phil’s This Morning shock

MELINDA Messenger made a major blunder when she was a guest presenter on This Morning – by asking when the show was going to air.

The Page 3 legend had no idea it goes out live every day.

The clanger happened in 2009 when the show had already been a mainstay on ITV for 11 years.

And it left her co-host Phillip Schofield stunned.

Recalling the incident, he said: “Melinda listened attentively in meetings, asked important questions, made sure she was fully briefed and across the show.

“At 10.30am we stood beside each other waiting to start. As the familiar opening titles started to play,

Melinda said, ‘This is so exciting. When does the show go out?’”

Phillip then told her: “It’s live. It goes out now. This is it.

We’re on.” A stunned

Melinda said: “So, what we say now goes straight out on TV?” To which Phillip replied: “Yes!” Melinda managed to impress bosses once the show went on air.

In his book Life’s What You Make It, Phillip said: “For the rest of the show Melinda was flawless.

“I hope Melinda doesn’t mind me telling this story. I only do so out of affection. Melinda is absolutely delightful.” Bosses later hired Holly Willoughby to be Phillip’s full-time co-host. Melinda has since returned to This Morning as a guest. But in 2016 she clashed with producers.

During a medical debate, she claimed it was dangerous for parents to let daughters have the HPV vaccine. Her view was slammed by resident doctors Chris Steele and Zoe Williams. Stung Melinda later claimed the pair as well as Phillip and Holly “ganged up” on her and it was “four against one”.
