Corey mask Slips off

TAYLOR KNOT HIDING WITH SOLO ALBUM

-

COREY Taylor has peeled back his Slipknot mask, but he hopes fans don’t do the same.

The Las Vegas rocker is urging people to protect themselves and others by wearing masks – after all, he’s used to wearing one.

Corey said: “When I hear people complaining about wearing a tiny piece of material for five minutes while they go to the supermarket, I say, ‘Are you serious?

“‘On stage with Slipknot it’s three hours a night I’m wearing a f***ing mask, covered in latex. Try see how you like that.’ Here, we still have conspiracy theorists who think the virus doesn’t exist. Some are protesting and refusing to wear a mask. Honestly, it depresses me to see such ignorance in my country.” After years fronting Slipknot and Stone Sour, Corey has just released his first solo album CMFT – and it’s due to the global crisis.

He added: “I had planned to go into the studio after touring with Slipknot next January, then the virus changed the world. “Slipknot’s tour got pushed back to next year, so I had a chance to finish the album. I had nothing else to do.” Corey has been writing this album his entire life – in fact one track, Highway 666, was written during his school days.

He revealed: “Ever since I was kid, I tried to write down what was going on in my head. One day I realised I had all this material stocked up and it was time to do something with them.”

The album takes in everything from glam rock and hip-hop to punk and even jazz.

Corey explained: “Rock ’n roll dictates all my emotions, and in the widest sense.

“It’s punk, it’s country, it’s jazz, heavy metal – all this music contributes to the man I am today.

“The Maria Fire – I wrote that 20 years ago. There’s a freedom in jazz that I find liberating. It’s going to surprise people who know me.”

Removing the mask is surprising enough.
