REAL MADRID returned to the top of La Liga with victory over their fiercest rivals at an empty Nou Camp stadium.

But there was some consolation for Barcelona when their teen sensation, Ansu Fati, became the youngest player to score in an El Clasico.

The Spanish teenager started ahead of Antoine Griezmann and rewarded boss Ronald Koeman’s faith with an eighth minute equaliser.

Jordi Alba’s assist allowed the young forward to cancel out an early lead given to Real by Federico Valverde – Fati was aged just 17 years 359 days.

That smashed the record set by Madrid’s Vinicius Junior in March, aged 19 years and 233 days.

But the landmark was all Barca had to celebrate.

After Valverde and Fati had traded goals, Sergio Ramos put Real back in front from the spot in the 63rd minute.

Ramos tumbled following a tug by Clement Lenglet and the referee awarded a penalty having reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor. The Real captain made no mistake from the spot.

Koeman sent on Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Francisco Trincao for the closing stages.

But instead it was Real substitute Luka Modric who added a third in stoppage time, finishing off from close range after Neto had denied Vinicius Junior again.

Zinedine Zidane’s men moved two points clear of Real Sociedad at the summit with six matches played.

But Barcelona are toiling in 10th place following a second straight La Liga defeat.
