TV HARDMAN ADMITS HE’S HOOKED ON DANCE SHOWS

FORCES tough guy Ollie Ollerton loves watching dancers on the box.

The star, 49, is famed for being fearless on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins.

But when off duty he is more interested in fancy footwork. And Ollie’s favourite show in recent years is BBC series The Greatest Dancer.

He said: “I love it. It’s everyday people showing off their hidden talent. It’s not fake or false. It’s true ability.” Ex-special forces soldier Ollie loves dancing himself. He said: “I used to consider myself a bit of a dancer. I dance to funk and house music. I’ve got a DJ suite in the house, which is my switch-off room.”

But fans hoping to see Ollie show off his moves on TV are likely to be disappointed.

He has been offered deals to appear on shows including Strictly and Dancing On Ice, but has turned them down.

Ollie fears it would ruin his hardman image.

He said: “I’m avoiding Strictly at all costs. I have been asked, but I just know they’d dress me up in a frilly bullfighter’s outfit.

“I turned down Dancing On Ice too – I had a vision of Blades

Of Glory.” Ollie was axed from Who Dares Wins after five years as one of its instructors. Insiders claimed he was dropped as part of a diversity drive.

But he is currently a directing staff member on SAS Australia, which is based on the UK show.

He said: “I’m more than happy that I’m doing the one in Australia. My time in the UK one was over really.

“I wasn’t content doing that show. My focus is my books, my focus is my business, and I was starting to fail to understand how that fits in.

“But it did exactly what I wanted it to do – it created exposure and allowed me to be able to have a voice.”
