Ole won’t let Mason see future un-Ravel

- By STEVE BATES

MANCHESTER UNITED fear young striker Mason Greenwood is on a dangerous path – and could throw his career away like Ravel Morrison.

The United and England ace has been embroiled in a series of off-field incidents this season which have seen him dropped by Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate and warned over his responsibilities by Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United officials are desperate for Greenwood to avoid the type of downward spiral that cost Morrison his Old Trafford career.

And that’s why Solskjaer and his staff have devised a strategy to get the teenager back on track.

No one at United will give details but it’s believed Greenwood will be under closer scrutiny in the coming weeks on and off the pitch with help at hand for the youngster.

Having watched gifted Morrison – now 27 and playing with Den Haag in Holland – fail to fulfil potential that could have made him a world-beater, there is a genuine fear that Greenwood could fritter his career away.

Even before the forward, 19, was caught smuggling girls into England’s team hotel and breaking their bio-bubble with Man City youngster Phil Foden before the game in Iceland in September, concerns were growing that the United star wasn’t prioritising football.

Stories emerged of being late for training on some occasions – denied by Solskjaer – and there is concern that late nights mean he isn’t getting the required rest and sleep.

Morrison has had ELEVEN clubs in the eight years since leaving Old Trafford.

Former United ace Gary Neville said: “Ravel had some significant complexities and challenges in life that any of us would have found difficult to deal with.”
