O’Neill takes his hat off to Campbell

- By JOHN WRAGG

DOUBLED UP: Campbell

TYRESE CAMPBELL ought to have had a hat-trick but in the end Stoke were hanging on to win a crazy game.

Campbell grabbed two goals in two minutes to make it five in his last seven games as Stoke climbed to seventh.

Boss Michael O’Neill said: “Campbell was a real threat.

“He showed not only his pace and power but his quality as well. He created chances for others and linked up well with Steven Fletcher.”

But Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan said: “It’s one win in six now.

“We have to learn from our mistakes quickly.

“We know we can be a good team but we must manage games better.”

Huddersfield took the lead in the 24th minute with Carel Eiting’s shot from Harry Toffolo’s squared pass.

Campbell smashed his first in the 31st minute following a Sam Clucas free-kick and then took a pass from the impressive Fletcher and beat keeper Joel Pereira.

A slip by Harry Souttar gave the Terriers their second, Isaac Mbenza scoring from Eiting’s pass in the 40th minute. And Campbell was denied his treble when his cross was turned in by Richard Stearman for what was deemed an own goal.

Clucas danced through to make it 4-2 in the 57th minute before Naby Sarr headed Huddersfield’s third on the hour mark.
