Callum turns on the Styles to Tyke spoils

- LINDSAY SUTTON

A LATE screamer by Callum Styles broke the Oakwell deadlock and sunk Chris Hughton’s revived Forest.

Styles’ first goal of the season five minutes from time was topped off by an even later strike by Cauley Woodrow to give Barnsley four wins in their last five league games.

Woodrow hit the bar twice and Conor Chaplin once as the Tykes’ high-intensity approach paid off.

Boss Valerien Ismael said: “Callum’s goal was incredible and so very important for us, along with Woodrow’s first goal in open play in the league this season.

“You could see the intensity and quality was there.

“We were very strong in the first 30 minutes and at half time I told them to keep going – and that’s what they did.”

Forest boss Hughton said: “I’ve had better days.

“I thought we were going to get something and we were in control when they hit us late on.

“On the balance of f play I thought we were the better side but we missed our chances and they kept going.”

Barnsley have to thank goalkeeper

Jack Walton who pulled off a great save and two brave blocks to deny Forest.

In a one-on-one showdown with Miguel Angel Guerrero, Walton managed to divert his effort.

When the Spanish striker managed a powerful shot on target, the keeper held well.

Walton then bravely denied the rampant Joe Lolley and for an encore he saved Lyle Taylor’s glancing header.

But with time ticking away Styles unleashed a belter of a finish before Woodrow (above) struck.
