Pul plans are in the Frieser til January

- By ROSS HEPPENSTALL

TONY PULIS is desperate to bring in reinforcements next month after the nightmare prospect of relegation crept into focus for Wednesday.

It is now seven games without a win for the rock-bottom Owls since the Welshman took control a month ago.

And Pulis said: “I will speak to the chairman because we have to bring in players with a little more quality and know-how.

“This is the most disjointed squad I’ve had as a manager.”

Pulis’ side had the perfect start in the fourth minute when Josh Windass latched onto Barry Bannan’s pass and fired past Jack Walton.

But from there Barnsley were impressive and effectively won the game by half-time.

Cauley Woodrow headed home from a corner in the 14th minute.

Eight minutes before the break Dominik Frieser finished off a delightful passing move.

Wednesday improved after the break and Walton denied Kadeem Harris and Windass, before sub Joey Pelupessy hit the bar from 30 yards.

Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael has now won seven out of 11 since arriving at Oakwell.

He said: “I knew the meaning of this game and could feel it in the changing room with these guys, so it’s a big win.

“We’re a young team but we believed in ourselves to come back into the match.

“It’s a good feeling.”
