NO JERSEY BOY Barrigan’s shock tip

- JOHN RICHARDSON

DAVID RAVEN reckons Jose Mourinho will be so fearful of losing to a tier-eight team he’ll have his big guns at the ready today.

Raven is ready and waiting to ambush Tottenham’s millionaires with the rest of manager Neil Young’s underdogs.

But he believes Mourinho (right) will be wary of being embarrassed by the Mersey minnows – and will have all his main stars on the bus to Marine.

Raven said: “I think he will, yeah. From his point of view he’d forever be remembered as a manager who is beaten by an eighth-tier team, if we beat them.

“And I think the fear of being beaten outweighs the joy of success for him.

“I think he will show respect for us by bringing some decent players.

“I think that is how his mind works. He does not want to be seen as the manager who gets beaten by Marine, not at all.”

MARINE veteran David Raven is hunting for scalps not souvenirs against Spurs today.

The experienced defender would rather have a place in the FA Cup fourth round than Harry Kane’s shirt.

“It’s the way I approach games against those players – to really not care who they are,” he said.

“I’m not interested in Harry Kane’s shirt. I don’t care if it’s Harry Kane or Gareth Bale.

“You go in with a mindset that you’re on a level playing field. As soon as you put these players on a pedestal, you’re on a loser.”

MARINE forward James Barrigan missed out on his Christmas tips as a binman but is hoping to deliver a footballing miracle against Spurs. Watching Spurs’ Carabao Cup semi-final win over Brentford in midweek on TV after another hard day’s graft on Merseyside, Barrigan had to pinch himself.

“I could hardly believe it that a few days later that would be us up against Tottenham,” he said.

“It’s ridiculous when you start to compare Marine with Tottenham, sheer lunacy. It’s just surreal – the biggest gap in the history of the FA Cup.” “We’ve just had Christmas and that’s a great time to receive tips but I missed out because I was off. “Did my mates save any for me? What do you think? But I believe it was more chocolate handed out than cash.”
