Ferry sad goodbyes

GERRY Marsden’s family said an emotional farewell to the legendary star at a funeral close to his beloved Mersey in Liverpool.

Marsden, whose band Gerry and the Pacemakers had hits including You’ll Never Walk Alone and Ferry Cross The Mersey, died this month at 78.

Sir Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool’s manager at the time of the Hillsborough tragedy, was among 30 family and close friends at the church ceremony.

Gerry’s wife Pauline said “We have been so moved and amazed at the extent of the respect, love and affection received.”
