Could you get anyone less diverse than middle-class public schoolboy Kermode? And shouldn’t we be more concerned with how funny they are? Charisma-free Kermode even moaned about 1959’s satirical masterpiec­e I’m All Right Jack. Its crime? Accurately reflecting the prejudices of its day. Tsk. We can’t have that in these babyish times.

Po-faced wet blanket Kermode sucks the joy out of movies with his clichéd views.

The Beeb should let someone more diverse and engaging front Secrets Of Cinema. Andi Osho would breathe life and laughs into it.
