Nasty Nick aims for top Ender charts
NASTY Nick is making a move on the music charts.
Soap legend John Altman, who played villain Nick Cotton on EastEnders, has launched a bid for pop stardom.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I thought because there is so little going on at the moment, this would be of great interest to people.
“I play guitar and drums, and I am a songwriter.
“I have a reputation from my days on EastEnders, so people probably wouldn’t have thought I’d do this.”
John, 68, says his music is influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, The Who and Queen.
He added: “I was brought up in the 60s and there was some great music around then. My stuff is quite
eclectic. There are elements of everything from punk to blues.”
John’s new single Love Of My Life is based on real-life heartache.
He said: “I wrote the song when I wasn’t seeing anybody. That’s not the best way to be in a lockdown.”
Playing a screen baddie for 30 years has made dating difficult for John.
He said: “I am cautious when it comes to relationships. “Dating could be tricky. They might think they’re going on a date with Nick Cotton.
“But that isn’t going to happen because I’m completely different to the character.”
Love Of My Life features on his album Never Too Late To Rock And Roll.
John is hoping to perform his music live when the pandemic is eventually over.
He said: “I want to get out there and maybe do Glastonbury.” Love Of My Life will be available to download on Friday.
