NEV CAN FUL-PHIL DREAM

- STEVE BATES

PHIL NEVILLE has vowed to be the best of British – and prove English coaches CAN succeed in other countries.

The former Lionesses boss has been officially unveiled as Inter Miami’s new manager and laid out his template for success after admitting this was a dream job he just couldn’t turn down.

Neville will work closely with pal David Beckham, president and co-owner of the Florida franchise, and he has already revealed a burning desire to put his team on the football map.

The ex-Manchester United, Everton and England star had a spell coaching at Valencia during brother Gary’s ill-fated stint as manager at the La Liga club.

And after guiding England women to a World Cup semi-final he is focusing on making an impact in the MLS. He said: “For

MIAMI JOB: Phil Neville is the new Inter boss me the biggest challenge as a manager is to come here to the MLS and prove that foreign coaches can be successful.

“That’s the one thing that excites me, to prove people wrong and make sure that when I do leave I have been successful.

“People throw at me that I’ve not got a lot of experience but I have been around winners as a player, winning myself as a player and coaching at a very top level.

“So I’ve seen what best practice is. I call it elite behaviour which is doing the right things every minute of every day.

“I’ve lived that as a player and seen and coached that way with some of best players in both the men’s and women’s game.

“Its a great opportunity for me and the journey I’ve just been on with the England women’s team is very similar to one I see here.”
