‘I’m going to have babies with Dan’

TOWIE star Amber Turner talks about her relationship with Dan Edgar, her fitness secrets and how she deals with trolls

-

Since joining the cast of ITVBe’s iconic reality show TOWIE in 2017, Amber Turner has had her fair share of drama. From heated rows with co-stars to a very public on-off relationship with her now boyfriend, Dan Edgar, Amber, 27, has proven she’s a feisty force to be reckoned with, who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants.

When we chat to the Essex girl over the phone, she seems happier than ever and is enjoying a dreamy trip to Dubai with 30-year-old Dan. Although it’s not been all smoothsailing for the couple, Amber says their six-month separation in 2018 was crucial for their relationship.

“Us breaking up for six months was the best thing that’s ever happened,”she reveals.“Since we’ve got back together it’s just been the best and we’ve had no issues at all.”

Here, Amber tells us about moving in with Dan, feeling broody and why she feels the pressure to always look “perfect”...

Hey Amber! You and Dan seem to be in a really good place...

Yes! Dan and I are really happy. We’re living together properly now, I don’t have my flat any more, so I’ve moved all my stuff in with him. We get on so well together and really do love each other’s company. It’s one little happy relationship for sure.

You previously split for six months. What do you think it was that brought you back together?

Dan and I have always been drawn to each other. We just have this thing. Even before we got together properly, we were always seeing each other. Sometimes relationships need that break to really realise what’s important. You have to realise that you are meant to be and that you want to be in each other’s lives.

What’s the five-year plan for you both?

Dan and I are going to buy a place together. We definitely want to have a baby and get married.

You’ve said you’d like a private and intimate proposal. What would be your dream scenario?

I’d definitely like it to be intimate. I would never want it to be on a TV

show or anything like that [laughs]. I haven’t got an ideal scenario, but Dan knows what I like so I trust him to do exactly the right thing when the moment comes.

Are you feeling broody yet?

One of my best friends has just had a baby and the other is pregnant, so this has made me a bit broody, but I’m not ready to have kids yet. I feel like I’ve got other things I want to accomplish, but it makes me excited for when the time does come.

How does it feel now that you and Dan are finally living together?

It just feels really normal. Even before I moved in properly I was basically living at Dan’s place anyway. I had a flat around the corner, but I was never there. He doesn’t do much tidying up, and plays on his Playstation quite a lot, but that’s just what I have to put up with [laughs]!

Has he got any annoying habits you’ve only just found out about?

It’s nothing new to me! He doesn’t enjoy doing the dishwasher very much and bites his nails a lot.

What do you guys get up to in your spare time?

The things we would usually do in our spare time have changed due to the pandemic. We’d usually go out for dinners or the cinema. We like cooking and baking food together and we watch lots of films and chill.

What do you want to do before you have kids?

Travel the world together. Dan is working on an exciting business venture so we want that to take off. We don’t have a bucket list – we need to make one!

Tell us about your fitness plan Active With Amber…

It’s a subscription plan that I’ve been doing for the last year where you sign up and receive a brand new plan every month. With every plan you get breakfast ideas, healthy snack suggestions and what to cook for dinner. You also get voice recordings of me telling you how to run a 5K. When I started my fitness plan I lost 5lb in six weeks.

That’s brilliant! What sparked your own fitness journey?

I just got to a point where I was getting a bit older and my metabolism wasn’t as fast as when I was 22 [laughs]. I used to eat really unhealthy food. I’d never eat my five-a-day and basically just lived off junk food. It obviously just caught up with me. I put on a bit of weight and was just feeling more groggy. I wasn’t happy in my own skin. I wanted to feel better about myself.

What’s your top tip for staying in shape?

Don’t disregard lifting weights. It’s a big part of my own fitness plan. We use dumbbells, nothing super heavy, but something that’s going to challenge you. Before I learnt all of this, I’d run on the treadmill for ages and wouldn’t see changes. Remember you don’t need to use weights, any household items that are heavy work too.

When you need a hit of motivation to work out, what do you do?

I look at pictures of myself when I’m feeling at my most confident.

Do you feel pressure to look a certain way?

Yes, I feel pressure to look amazing all the time. There’s so many people out there who pick on what you’re wearing and what you look like. When I did put on weight I had people messaging me telling me I was looking “chubby” and “fat”. So doing a plan such as Active With Amber has helped me so much – I’m feeling great.

How do you cope with trolls?

Block and delete – bye hun!
