TB12 is No.1! BRADY A SPORTING ICON

-

TOMPA BAY: Brady has been the hero for his new side in Florida

There was Glazer, hooping and hollering inside Lambeau Field in front of his applauding players as he lifted the NFC Championship trophy Brady had claimed for his Tampa Bay Buccaneers after their thrilling win over the Green Bay Packers.

The images beamed across the Atlantic will have been unique ones to Man United fans, though. It might be standard practice in America for club owners to lift silverware.

But the most striking aspect was how hard it was not to draw the conclusion that right there was where the real passion, heart and motives of the Glazers are.

The look of love Glazer shot TB12 was one you’ll never see between the billionaire and Harry Maguire at Old Trafford. But that’s enough about Glazer – he is just the latest to find himself seduced by the simply astonishing brilliance of someone who is now among the true sporting giants. Only the very privileged few can claim to have transcended their chosen sports. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali and Serena Williams spring to mind.

We can now add Brady to the list. Tonight in Florida will be the 55th Super Bowl – and Brady will have played in 10 of them. He has won six already and at this rate will be needing some extra fingers for his winning rings.

Brady is 43 and has led the Glazer franchise to just its second Super Bowl, in his first season there as quarterback.

When he won his first title with the New England Patriots back in 2002, his opposite number tonight, Patrick Mahomes, was just six years old.

The numbers surrounding Brady are just mind-boggling. Almost impossible to fathom.

Remarkably, he continues to divide opinion in the States despite all his achievements.

But love him or loathe him, he deserves our ultimate respect and adulation because he once vowed to be the Greatest Of All Time – and he has delivered on that promise.

Only the chosen few have the natural gifts and desire to also put in the daily work needed to get to the top and, more importantly, stay there.

Win or lose on home soil in Tampa tonight, Brady has simply added another layer to his legend.

We will never see his like again so go on, stay up until the early hours and watch a sporting icon play in the biggest sporting spectacle around.

Appreciate the

GOAT while you still

can.

Manchester United outcast came in from the cold to score twice on his West Ham debut after joining them on loan for the rest of the season. Glad to see him back on top.
