JURG NEEDS SPECIAL ONE

- STEVE BATES

SPECIAL DELIVERY: Jurgen Klopp

JURGEN KLOPP has warned his wobbling stars they will have to conjure up something “special” to stop Manchester City’s ominous title surge at Anfield today.

Pep Guardiola’s men are on a nine-match winning Premier League run during which they have conceded only one goal as they head to Merseyside carrying the look of champions.

While Liverpool’s defence has been unsettled and vulnerable, City have been formidable in shutting out opponents.

And Klopp accepts his reigning champions must be at the top of their game to breach a City defence which looks more stable and assured since the £61.6million arrival of Ruben Dias from Benfica in September.

“For us, I will talk to the boys about a lot of things between now and the start of the game,” said Klopp, who hopes to have Sadio Mane fit again after missing the last two games.

“There are a lot of things to consider for a game like this. But in the end we have to play football, in the end we have to defend against City with everything we have.

“And we have to play football at a really high level because you don’t score the easy goals against City.

“You don’t get easy chances. So you have to make a few special things happen and we will try.

“It is possible. That is a good thing about football.

“Even when you lose the last game, everything is possible for the next one.

“This is a tricky season for us. Six of our seven most expensive players were out and lot of them are really, really good players. But that is how it is.”
