Toffolo’s red card spoils day for Carlos

- By JON WEST

HUDDERSFIELD boss Carlos Corberan is hoping Harry Toffolo’s red card is overturned after Naby Sarr’s close-range effort cancelled out a James Collins tap-in.

The defender was shown a straight red for a stoppage-time foul that looked no more a crime than any other offence deemed a yellow by referee Leigh Doughty.

Corberan said: “Harry told me he slipped and that was why he made contact with the player.

“I don’t think it was a red card but we need to analyse the camera to see if we can appeal.”

Huddersfield have yet to win in any competition in 2021 however and their Spanish boss knows he has a leaky backline.

He said: “In the second half we created enough chances to win the game but at the same time we need to avoid mistakes that are leading to goals.”

Luton bossed the first 45 minutes but could only find the net when Collins pounced in the 11th minute.

Sarr gave the ball away in own half and within seconds Harry Cornick was racing through on the right to set the striker up for a back-post tap-in.

The Terriers drew level with 17 minutes remaining when Hatters keeper Simon Sluga parried Juninho Bacuna’s low free-kick straight to Sarr for a tap-in.

Hatters boss Nathan Jones said: “We had double the shots on target and double the scoring attempts they had, so I’m disappointed.”
