Munoz can’t get Hornets buzzing

- By IAN BAKER

XISCO MUNOZ is now discovering just how difficult the Watford job is.

Just a week ago, the Hornets were looking good for an automatic promotion bid.

But following Monday’s 2-1 home loss to QPR and this lacklustre showing at another struggling side in Coventry, the Spaniard has issues to resolve.

The biggest one is over Watford’s pitiful away record. Just three wins and seven goals on the road tells its own story.

And that never looked like changing at St Andrew’s where the Hornets were fortunate to grab a point.

The Watford boss said: “When we play away we have problems. This has not changed.

“It is true we must improve on different things but now is the moment for us to stick together and continue working hard.

“We are working and we need to continue to believe. We need to work hard to change something.”

Watford played Troy Deeney just behind Andre Gray yesterday – and it simply did not work.

The visitors only really got going late on after bringing on Joao Pedro and Will Hughes.

Deeney headed against the bar from Jeremy Ngakia’s centre. But a Hornets winner would not have been deserved.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “It was a hard-fought point but one that could have been so much more for us. Performances like this will help us climb the table.”
