ISAAC HAYDEN has demanded Newcastle avoid a “pit of negativity” as they battle back from Matt Ritchie’s bust-up with manager Steve Bruce.

Magpies midfielder Hayden will lead the Geordies into a relegation clash against former Toon boss Sam Allardyce and his West Brom side today and is calling for calm.

Hayden, 25, is well aware of the plight his side find themselves in as they sit just three points ahead of third-bottom Fulham, following a run of only two wins in 17 games.

Bruce patched up a training ground row with midfielder Ritchie last week and is refusing to give up on his reign at Newcastle, despite widespread opposition from fans.
