Passport to trial at Cup final
A VACCINE passport will be trialled at a handful of large events including the FA Cup Final.
A Liverpool comedy club will be the first to test the system next week, only admitting vaccinated punters.
PM Boris Johnson said the trial’s aim was to allow people “to return to the things they love as safely as possible”.
Pubs, restaurants and businesses will not require passports for the time being.
Some areas, such as essential shops and public transport, will remain exempt. But the scheme is set to be rolled out further.
Those on the trial will need a certificate that shows they have been vaccinated or have already had Covid, so have natural immunity.
A recent negative test will also show on the certificate and give the green light to entry.
The certificate can be displayed on a phone.
The PM said: “We are doing everything we can to enable the reopening of our country.”
Meanwhile, unions are up in arms as it emerged bosses will be able to ban workers who have not been jabbed. A Government source said ministers will not be able to stop firms demanding jab passports.
