Moyes is gard-ed

for his opportunity to shine in the Premier League after being used in Europe and domestic cup competitions.

When De Gea was given permission to return to Spain to be at the birth of his first child last month, Henderson kept clean sheets against Crystal Palace, Manchester City and West Ham, ahead of tonight’s home game with Brighton.

And although he was blamed for the last-minute goal that helped AC Milan claim a Europa League draw at Old Trafford, he played a key role in the 1-0 victory at the San Siro in the return as Solskjaer’s side booked their place in the quarter-finals.

De Gea and out-of-favour Phil Jones are the only members of the United squad who were part of the 2013 team that clinched the club’s last Premier League title. He was signed from Atletico Madrid for £18.9m in the summer of 2011 and has also won FA Cup, League

Cup, Europa League and European Super Cup medals with the giants.

He saw a deadline day deal to take him to Real Madrid collapse in 2015 when the paperwork on a

£29m transfer that would have seen Keylor Nevas move to Old Trafford was not completed in time.

De Gea was Spain’s No.1 at the time but he was on the bench for the three World Cup qualifiers against Greece, Georgia and Kosovo last week as boss Luis Enrique went for Athletic Bilbao keeper Unai Simon.

United will be wary having been forced into handing out lucrative pay-offs in the past to get high-earning players out of the club.

Most notably Alexis Sanchez walked away with a

£10m settlement when he moved to Inter Milan two years ago after sealing a £500,000-a-week deal when he arrived from Arsenal in January 2018.

JESSE LINGARD still has another nine games to prove his worth to West Ham.

That’s the message from boss David Moyes as he revealed his club have no option to buy the on-loan Manchester United forward, 28, at the end of the season.

“We’ve still got nine games to go to judge and assess Jesse – just like United have to think if they want to keep or sell him,” said Moyes.
