Willock winging his way up for The Rs

MARK WARBURTON believes Chris Willock has star quality on the ball but is a work in progress off it.

The former Arsenal Academy winger, 23, headed home his second QPR goal in Friday’s 3-0 win over Coventry.

Warburton, who returns to former club Nottingham Forest tomorrow, revealed he is working hard on improving the wide boy (right) who joined from Benfica in October for £750,000, after loan spells last season at

West Brom and also Huddersfield.

He said:

“Chris is a very talented ball player. When he has the ball he has the pace, power and technical base to look after it and hurt teams, turn defenders and produce matchwinning moments.

“What Chris needs to keep learning is how to impact the game and what we do when we haven’t got the ball.”

Michael Rose’s own goal and an Ilias Chair strike made it a perfect start to the final run of nine games for Warburton, who wants to finish the season with a flourish.

He added: “Before Saturday there were 27 points on the table and our job is to hunt down every point we can.”

Tyler Blackett reckons Nottingham Forest’s battling victory at Cardiff proves they are on the road to safety.

“It was a very difficult game,” he said. “They are a strong side who play a lot of direct balls into the box so it was a lot to deal with at times but I thought we did well.

“It’s the old cliche but we just have to take it game by game between now and the end of the season.

“We must try to make sure that we make ourselves safe as soon as we can.”
